I made myself a dress a while ago. It is another Colette pattern...the Chantilly this time.
I had to shorten the midriff part by about an inch because it kept creeping up to my natural ( non-existant) waist.
I also unpicked every bit of topstitching I did around the yoke because it made the yoke stick out on me.
Other than that there were only a couple of minor dart adjustments.
The bolero is not the type of thing that I would normally wear, but anything that covered my sides made me look terrible. It took all the shape away from the dress. So I made this shrug from fairly nasty polyester ribknit I bought online a while ago, but it is quite good made up.
I used the Ottobre workshop, ladies top (I can't find it or remember what the number is). I used the sleeves and the top of the back and I modified the top of the front to a similar shape to the Brooklyn shrug from Nancy Langdon/ Sabine Pollehn's book... "Sewing Clothes Kids Love".
I am really pleased over all. All I need now is somewhere to wear it!

I know this was supposed to be a wearable muslin, but I think it looks outstanding! I just love that print. Good idea for the bolero, I would have never thought to do that!

This dress is fantastic! I just ordered two Colette patterns. I'm excited but nervous too. Are the patterns pretty detailed? Do you make a muslin first? So glad to find your blog!
Thank you Shasta! The patterns usually have a lot of pieces and as a result they have lots of stages, but there are also lots of diagrams. I just try and take my time and fit each piece on as I make it. This is my (wearable) muslin. I wish you luck with yours..you'll be fine!
