.....thats what my mother used to tell me when I was a child, and still does occasionally!
When my sister was here a while ago with her children, she mentioned that her daughter was very fond of aprons and would love one of sometime, if I was ever looking for gift ideas. It is her 12th birthday shortly and I decided to try a pattern from Anna Maria Horners book Seams to Me. I used Ikea fabrics I'd bought a while ago. I'm quite happy with the finished product. I hope she likes it too....
The other project that has needed doing is some school unifrom trousers for Maeve. I had a remant of polyester jersey that I bought locally, not pretty but ideal for often washed, often worn, uniform trousers. I used a pattern from the last issue Ottobre. It was the slim fitting 'Neat Beat' pattern that I used, and boy oh boy are they slim fitting! She's normally a 128cm, which is the size I made, and they just fit her. They are terribly long too, I just hemmed them by hand, I can decide what to do about the extra length in time. Over-all I'm very pleased with them. They look a bit worse for being worn in the yard for an hour after school today!
Now I can start some of those new projects........
