O+S Sunday Brunches and a Nature Walk

When I first saw the Nature Walk pattern from Oliver + S, I wasn't drawn to it, but after seeing a couple of wonderful versions on Flickr, by Nicole and Shasta, I had to have it!
Not like me, I know!
Anyway T was so excited that this was a "boy pattern"...of course it is totally unisex, but he is just happy with the boy on the envelope!
So I made him this.....

Nature Walk Pullover
When he came in from school today, I had just finished it...he was keen to try it on, hence the school tie....

Nature Walk Pullover

The sleeves are a bit long for him, I will probably shorten them. I made him a size 8yr...he is 6 and a half, he is 128cm tall. It fits really well in the body though. Maeve really wants one and I think I may just add a bit of length to this size for her, although she is 138cm. The sleeves are perfect on her, and it is nice and slim fitting.

I made these Sunday Brunch jackets for the little girls in the hopes that they would stop wearing their Ottobre coats from 8.30am until 5.30pm.....(I wish I was joking), but instead they wear these under their Ottobre coats!
I put them on in the morning on the way to the bus and they refuse to take them off.....some fights are not worth having...it will pass as the weather improves...I hope!

She is fed up with being photographed btw!

All the fabrics I used are from Dots'n'Stripes and both patterns are Oliver + S.

Thats such great fabric for the Nature Walk pullover, and beautifully sewn. Your girls are really getting tall, and look gorgeous in their jackets. You're so right about picking your fights!

What a fun pullover - the pockets are really neat. What a relief to the poor boy to finally have a "boy" pattern! And he's the same height as my oldest boy (who's ten - eek).

How funny your girls won't stop wearing their coats (sounds familiar). And it's no fair - they outnumber you!

Love the coats and their fabrics! I will check out the Dots'n'stripes website soon.

As you am not sure about the sweater pattern. I find it so... boyish ;-) Maybe I should reconsider: I can't keep sewing for the girls and neglect the we man!

As usual, everything looks fabulous! Love your fabric choices too.

Wow, what beautifully sewn jackets (and boy top)! I have a boy toddler and it's so frustrating that there just isn't the range of nice patterns that there is for girls.

Thanks Angela...there are lots of battles some days, so I only fight the ones I need to! The Nature Walk pattern is so lovely...really easy to wear too. I am always a bit wary about camouflage fabric, but the colours in this are lovely and soft.

Thank you Joy...The best bit is that the pockets are kangaroo pockets(?) They go all the way accross the front...my husband told him he could shake hands with himself!
If one of the girls decides to do something, and the other follows her, I can seldom win! No fair, like you say! They are fun at the moment though!

Thank you Onix!

Thanks Thirza...Nicole at Dots'n'Stripes is great to deal with, and I am never disappointed with her fabrics.
I would say that the pattern is a winner...your little man get something for him, but I would say your girls would be asking for one too. I don't ever remember Maeve being so keen for me to make anything for her...she has fabrics chosen already.

Thanks very much Amanda...all the children chose their own fabrics from my stash...the girls were so decisive!

Thank you Jo...I think this pattern is great, especially for boys. As you say it is hard to find nice boy patterns. I have found Ottobre Design and Oliver+S the best.

You're a marvel, Millie! I wish I could make lovely things like those instead of searching among all the gaudy junk in the shops for decent clothes.

It's nice to sew something for the boys in our lives for a change, isn't it? The pullover looks great and that's neat that the pocket is a kangaroo one...I hadn't realized that. Love the Sunday Brunch jackets. I just need to sew buttons on mine and hem the sleeves and it will be finished.

Oh Thank you Mise!
My main complaint about shop bought stuff is that it doesn't fit for long! My girls are still wearing tops, that were once dresses/tunics. I made them almost 2 years ago! Most things they wear for a year, easily. I'm loving your new tiles btw.

Thanks Cindy..it is indeed nice to sew for him...I must say that he does as well as the girls though...I love sewing him things that suit his eclectic style! I am watching out for your Sunday Brunch set.

Beautiful sewing, Millie. It's always a treat to log in and find that you've sewn something new!!

Oh thank you Medrie...It is equally a treat to log in over at your blog and read what you and R are up to!

They all look lovely, Millie. No wonder, your kids want to wear them all the time :-)

I have no bought the last lengths of Zagalita Cord and Bella Rostro Cord Brown on sale from Dots 'n Stripes! I had been eyeing them a long time ago, but thought them to expensive. Because of your post I checked the website again and found they were on sale. Hopefully one of them is enough to make myself an a-line skirt!

Thanks for the reference!

Good for you Thirza! Those are lovely...I just had a look. I bought a big box of fabrics in the sale! Shhh don't tell anyone!
I am delighted to be able to enable a bit of fabric purchasing!

Thanks for the compliment, Millie! I love how cosy this looks. I think I need to make another one that the kind of snuggly-quality this one has!

No problem Shasta, you'rre welcome...I love how yours turned out. With Spring on it's way here, the children like to shed their coats more often, so fleeces are a good alternative.

Lovely Sunday Brunch coats. But I remember those Sparrow coats, and if I had one I'd wear it all day too :)

Thank you glayla... That's very kind of you to say!
