Ottobre PJs

Ok so that title is a bit of a cop out...I can never spell pajamas or pyjamas or what ever way they are meant to be spelt...spell check tells me neither is wrong....!?

Last year, I made the 4 kids jammies for Christmas, all the while I visited my elderly Aunt twice a day, as she was at the end of her battle with cancer in a nursing home. Needless to say I made several mistakes...for those of you who know Ottobre, I used the pattern from 4/03, which are traditional flannelette jammies. That's 4 collars, numerous buttons and buttonholes...they got finished by Christmas, but only just. I found them a chore, mainly because my mind was elsewhere.

So this year I promised that I wouldn't do the same, and strangely enough, I stuck to my guns, but on St Stephens Day (26th Dec) I took out my machine and made these...

......no pressure and no distractions. However I only made the little ones jammies, and I used the pattern from 6/09, which is a long-john style bottoms and a raglan sleeve top...so easy to make and they fit sooooo well...I love that about Ottobre.

The spotty fabric and the pink ribbing came from Dots'n'Stripes a while ago.
The petrol blue ribbing came from Myllymuksut
The pattern is Ottobre magazine 6/2009 #34 and #35, in size 98cm.

Happy New Year to everyone who stops by here...I hope it is a happy, healthy and safe year for all of you.

Precious! My gosh, they're pretty girls. Nice pjs too! I knocked up a pair for James for Christmas. I kid you not, he barely looked at them. I could hear him thinking 'clothes???' And they had diggers on them, and everything... Your girls look a lot more grateful. Want to swap?

Thanks Medrie...it is mostly great fun...but as a mother of twin girls I worry that one is getting the nicer garment/fabric!
But it is soooo much more fun than shopping for clothes for twins...that's why I started sewing!!!!

Thank you Kathryn...don't let them fool you, they wouldn't wear them for 2 nights..."doooo beeeeg" (too big) was what I was told! On the second night that they did wear them, R pulled her top off...no way would she wear it!

Thanks Kid MD..They do seem very comfy...I was very impressed with the fit, nice and long.

Aw.... Thank you very much Homebird!

Thank you very much Nicole...it was such lovely fabric to use.

These pyjamas (yes, I have that too...now I'm wondering whether it is really acceptable to spell it both ways and perhaps that is what has led to my ongoing confusion over the word) are adorable - I love the fabric and had somehow missed it on Dots & Stripes.

I'm so happy to have found your lovely blog after you left a comment earlier. It will be added to my Google reader immediately.

Florence x

Thank you Florence...the spotty fabric has been sitting for ages waiting to be used, I wonder now why I didn't use it straight away, it is so lovely.
I have been showing my husband your husband's Negroni shirt...he is well impressed!
