I don't think she has worn it either, mind you! But thank you for your advice..I appreciate that.Milliehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08345822230344288078noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9155243672133235939.post-58120501581295133642012-01-06T10:18:30.847+00:002012-01-06T10:18:30.847+00:00Just discovered your blog - it's January 2011,...Just discovered your blog - it's January 2011, and here I am browsing way back to Feb 2010. Re- the white/blue linen tunic - it's the sleeves that are unbalancing it. Take them up to be more of a cap sleeve, maybe shorten them about 50% on the outer edge. That, and maybe aiming for more of an A-line feel to the top, will make any future attempts at this pattern feel prettier. Of course, all this is assuming you haven't already repurposed the whole thing :-).

I am SO enjoying your blog. I don't sew as much as I used to, as I commute for work a few days/week, and also op-shop for the bulk of my and my girls' clothes.Jac's Mumhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15020308226298936717noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9155243672133235939.post-83849052174311181452010-02-21T20:38:07.873+00:002010-02-21T20:38:07.873+00:00Winter Tree... Rest yourself, try and put your feet up when you can, and enjoy these early days.
As for fast, I'm just terribly impatient!

Ria... I kind of knew the tunic wouldn't suit me, but like you I learned a few things anyway. I'll be making the wrap again though.
We had to travel a long distance yesterday and met 4 seasons in one day. You put time and effort into a piece and then it turns out so different than you imagined. I had my disasters, too. But I did learn what suits my and what not (at least I hope). No wide tops for me either, I need slim fits.
So I won't make the cover of the latest Ottobre womans issue, but the pants in there I'm dying to try.
We're almost snow-free here in Holland. Hope spring is coming to Ireland, too, very quickly.Riahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10945104361581786518noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9155243672133235939.post-4155375177345207232010-02-20T21:32:33.342+00:002010-02-20T21:32:33.342+00:00thanks so much for the award - only saw it today ....thanks so much for the award - only saw it today ...long story. I love honesty!....

Astrid- I agree, it is more difficult for yourself.. one thing I did learn with the coral one is, to make a smaller size than I have been. I somtimes make tops too big and they look sloppy and don't look well.

Maureen- The fabric was a remnant from my local fabric shop in Ireland here http://www.dressfabricsdirect.ie/. It is lovely quality but I wasn't sure about the colour, everyone else seems to think it's nice though.

Dina- Thank you, I'll get hacking at it soon, I'll keep you posted!

Nina- I look unhappy, not just with my top, but with my husband for taking so many terrible photos and making me say rude words to make me smile! And with my children for acting-up whilst waiting for their bedtime story. The linen will hopefully make a nice skirt!Milliehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08345822230344288078noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9155243672133235939.post-75986372187270231492010-02-19T16:02:03.651+00:002010-02-19T16:02:03.651+00:00Oh, you are sweet! Well done! Where did you get the fabric? As for the second- well- hmmmm- I dont wish to be unkind but the comparison with the coral top says it all- doesn't suit you :-(
Maureentippchichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13145488015849042381noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9155243672133235939.post-32931810394131634622010-02-19T11:04:48.573+00:002010-02-19T11:04:48.573+00:00The first top is such a flattering style for you -...The first top is such a flattering style for you - really nice fit, and a great colour. As for the other one - I agree, the fabric is great! ;) No, really - sewing for yourself is soo difficult - I have made a few things for myself, but I wear only two items - the rest ended up in the closet. The fit needs to be so much more precise than with the children. You did a great job! :)Astridhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09003145095764883196noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9155243672133235939.post-78902102603849666072010-02-19T10:45:10.739+00:002010-02-19T10:45:10.739+00:00Thanks Nicole... for your honesty!
The coral top ...Thanks Nicole... for your honesty!
The coral top seems to work well, it has 3 layers of jersey across the tummy which seems to suck in that area a bit!
The other one as you say...best as a skirt. The fabric is a lovely linen (mix?) so I'd be happy to salvage it.Milliehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08345822230344288078noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9155243672133235939.post-45871124905161308372010-02-19T09:25:33.633+00:002010-02-19T09:25:33.633+00:00These two photos show two different persons!
