I Have a New Obsession.....

I have been aware of Oliver + S patterns for a long time and have admired many of them, but I have never caved and bought one. Recently I decided I had to have the Bubble Dress pattern....Had to have it I tell you!

I want to use it for making the little ones dresses for a family occasion next year, but wanted to try it out first.

So it has been floating around my kitchen for a few days while I decided what fabrics to use. I decided on some coral coloured corduroy which my friend Siena gave me.....

and some more of the green corduroy left over form making Maeve's Sarita Jeans....

They are much more visual than Ottobre patterns, which really doesn't bother me either way, but I know some people claim to be visual learners/sewers....I'm sure Oliver + S patterns would suit them well.

The dresses went together really well. The first took a bit of time, but no more than you'd expect of a fully lined dress.
The lining is cotton from Ikea with hearts all over...from the kids section. Because the photos are taken from below, you can see it, but from straight on it is well hidden.

I got the Bubble dress pattern from Millie Moon
Since then I have decided that I need the Jump Rope Dress pattern......

Such fine little dresses for your twins - I like that you chose different colors.

I love Oliver + s patters as well, and bought the pattern for the Ice cream dress a little while ago. I would love to have one of their new ones too - the music box jumper. But it does cost quite a lot to get the patterns here to Denmark.

I totally agree with you - the Jump Rope dress is fabulous as well.

Have a great weekend. :))

The dresses are quite beautiful! I've been admiring the Jump Rope dress pattern for quite some time but held off on purchasing until O+S announced that they were not going to be printing anymore copies of that pattern.

These are so gorgeous and I bet they're amazing on the girls. It sounds like you've caught the 'sewing dresses' bug!! I am deciding if I should get the School Photo dress.....

Thanks Nicole. I hope so...I still haven't cornered them to try them on!

Thanks Ulla V..I remember you bought the ice-cream dress pattern. I never dress the girls the same, at least I try hard not to! I have found a site that is quite reasonable for O+S patterns and postage.
http://www.thelifecraft.co.uk/. £1.50 to Ireland or Denmark and £11 for patterns.
Have a lovely weekend too!

Thanks Michal...it is a great pattern.

Beachgirl...I saw your photos of the J/R pattern. Like you I ordered it when I realised they were selling out and there would be no more! (thats my excuse anyway!)

SewMentalMama...I like the girls to have a nice dress that fits them, at all times. That way if an occasion arises, they're ready. I think their last proper dresses were made last Christmas! I love the School Photo dress too. Very much!

Thanks Winter tree...Oh indeed I know! I have been gawking at the flickr group! Admiring all the lovely J/R dresses, but thanks for letting me know.

I have a real soft spot for the birthday party dress - Ottobre do a more elaborate version for older girls. And when I get round to ordering, I'll probably throw in a sandbox shorts & shirt too - that's the problem with buying from the states - you feel you have to buy enough to justify the postage!

Very nice gaelic Millie and An- deas bualadh libh !
Thank you for the wonderful comments on my sewing!
You have such beautiful twin girls! I also have twin girls however they are turning 22 this month and graduating university in the spring. You really live through it! Haha I have to say that I do miss my girls being little and now it seems like they have grown up too fast. Enjoy those little blessings while you still have them at this age!
I would love to hear from you again!
Best regards,

I know what you mean Kathryn! Have you seen the online shop The Life Craft? Their O+S patterns seem reasonable and their postage to Ireland is also very reasonable, so I'm sure their UK postage would be good too.

Thanks sew4my3...I am newish to garment sewing, but it has been a life saver with 4 kids to mind! It makes me use my brain and hands and the end product is useful! Win-win!
One of your girls was in the Colette bloomers right? Great photo, and great sewing too. I'm sure our paths will cross again soon!
